rCAD and rCAD Utilities General Release Notes

  • Notes
    • The rCAD Utilities software package does not currently support remote management; therefore, they must be installed on the computer where the rCAD database is located.
    • The rCAD Utilities support servicing of rCAD databases in different SQL Server instances on the same computer.
    • SQL Server Versions
      • An rCAD database can be installed on Any version of SQL Server 2008.
        • With SQL Server 2008 Express, limits are applied to: simultaneous connections, database size (4GB), multi-core processing and memory utilitzation. Academic users might want to consider joining the MSDN Academic Alliance for access to SQL Server 2008 + other Microsoft Software for research and education purposes. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/academic/default.aspx
        • The rCAD Utilities use SQL Server 2008 Integration Services (SSIS) to streamline creating and servicing an rCAD database. These services are only available with SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition or Higher with Integration Services installed.
        • If using the rCAD Utilities with SQL Server Express 2008 or SQL Server 2008 Standard+ without SSIS, the rCAD Utilities generate scripts for rCAD database creation and servicing. These scripts are executed using SQLCMD http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms162773.aspx.
        • Note: The rCAD Taxonomy Updater utility only works if SSIS is available with SQL Server 2008 Standard or higher.
